Cute As A Button Birthday Party.

A friend and I sat down together over lunch one day and I gave her ideas for her son's first birthday party. She based the colors of the party off of a "first birthday" shirt she had picked up awhile back. Blue and Kelly green. Then she chose "Cute As A Button" for the theme.

She made the cutest picture frame by painting it blue and gluing buttons around the edges. Glass jars wrapped with button scrapbook paper held Oreo pops. The green and blue tubs that she borrowed from me also added visual pops of color to the table. My friend made the cutest button bunting for her son's high chair, and a cute button party hat for him to wear while he ate his cake. It was a great party table.

Thanks to Toni for featuring the pink and green cupcake tea party that I threw back in June on her blog "Design Dazzle." You can read her post by clicking here.

Cute As A Button Cake.

I was asked to make the first birthday cake for a friend's son. The theme was "Cute As A Button" with the party colors being green and blue. Twenty-three cupcakes and one smash cake later, and I love how they turned out! Happy First Birthday, Cole!

MOPS Date Night Fundraiser.

I am part of a MOPS (Mom's of preschoolers) group, and we had our first fundraiser last night.  Date night with our spouse. The event was held at the church our regular MOPS meetings are at. I had less than a week to put it together.

The challenge was decorating on a very tight budget since it was a fundraiser. Out came previous decorating ideas from past parties I have thrown. Branches were spray painted gold and leaves made out of card-stock attached to the branches. We used old wine corks and Spanish moss as filler for the vases. Mason jars tied with raffia held tea lights. My trusty old window and crate were used on the hors d'oeuvres and wine table. The orange and green bunting from my "Mastering The Art Of French Cooking" dinner party was hung around the room.
