Blue Plaid & Lace Birthday Party (Twins).

For this party we made two smash cakes and a couple dozen cupcakes. I've been seeing these beautiful rosette cakes all over blogland, and thought it would be the perfect smash cake for the little birthday girl. For the birthday boy, I kept his cake simple with just accents of blue.

Parties are all in the details. For our details we used paper doilies to create our "lace", making custom bunting, water bottle labels, and cupcake holders. We also made coordinating rosettes. A personalized sign was displayed in the vintage typewriter.

We spread out our doily table runner from the vendor challenge we participated in. To counteract the feminine lace aspect of the party, we strategically placed wooden crates on our table to produce a more masculine tone. Vintage glass bottles and an apothecary jar that held vintage buttons and wooden spools of thread were also part of the design.

One other small touch we incorporated into the party were jars with the actual birth weight of each twin.  This allowed guests to get an idea of the difference in the two babies.

We can now officially say we are an international company! And we are actively back in the party designing business. If you follow us on Facebook, you already know that this past summer was taken up with our personal life as we added a new daughter to our family. A few weeks ago we designed a small first birthday party for a set of twins in Canada. A boy and a girl. When I talked to the twin's mom she wasn't sure where she wanted to go in terms of the party. So we decided in an effort to keep expenses low, to do a small dessert table as the focal point.
