Liturgical Arts Week - Day One

Summer time is a time when kids go off to camp. There are day camps and there are the camps where you drop your child off in the woods or on a lake for a week with their sleeping bag in hand. Kids spend time at Vacation Bible School. It just seems like summer time is synonymous with camp time.

This year we got asked again to provide the snacks for the Liturgical Arts Week of First United Methodist Church in Conway. We had so much fun doing this for them two years ago, so we happily agreed!  However, this years we're keeping things a little simpler by only doing one backdrop for the whole week and switching out snacks each day.

For the first day we served the kids fruit on bamboo kabob sticks and in the ROY G BIV color scheme. Yup. Rainbow. We used raspberries, oranges, pineapple, kiwi, blueberries, and cherries. For drinks we purchased Hawaiian Punch removed their lovely label and replaced it with plain white printer paper to stay true to our color scheme.

As a mom myself, who is aware of picky palates, I wondered how the elementary aged kids would approach fruit as a snack. But the former nutritionist in me wanted to provide them with something a little healthier than what is planned for the coming week! It worked out, because all the kabobs were eaten and the kids swapped or passed off among themselves whatever fruit they did or didn't want.
