With the Fourth Of July coming up, we thought we would do four posts celebrating America's birthday. We will not even be in the United States for the holiday, and most likely will not really celebrate it since we will be in Thailand volunteering in a village where I'm sure they aren't familiar with the holiday! Back in the United States, it was always a fun time to grill with friends and family, as well as to watch some spectacular fireworks on the beach.
All of our four posts are related to food, since the use of fruit is such an easy way to acquire the red, white, and blue color scheme. My two kids love it when we make pancakes on a Saturday morning. If I'm feeling ambitious, I will even make the batter the night before, store it in the refrigerator overnight, and then make them for the family before the kids leave for school. Stacking pancakes and serving fruit in between the layers makes the Fourth Of July an automatic celebration.
